If you are an animal lover and planning to head to South America, then you must have the Galapagos Island on top of your list. There you can share a trail or a swim with the most exotic species in the planet. Some of these animals are near extinction and you can not find them anywhere but in Galapagos Island.
Here are some of the most famous animals in Galapagos that you should try to spot:
You can’t miss them when you see them. The Galapagos Tortoise is a mammoth turtle which can weigh about 300 pounds. Chances are that the one you will be seeing is older than you are or even your grandma since these creatures can last for 100 to 200 years. You can find about 14 sub species of tortoises in Galapagos and you will find each beyond amazing.
If you are visiting the island between April and December, you may catch a glimpse of the Wave Albatross. These are big birds which can stay on the sea for a very long time. Some say they can be out there for years while feeding off from squids, fish, and crustaceans.
There are also penguins in Galapagos Island. They are the only ones who can live in warm waters. Most of their kinds live in the southern hemisphere but these penguins are considered the northern most of their broods.
